To our Tribal friends,
In 1860-61 the South decided
that it could no longer live under the yoke of the federal government in Washington. After seceding from the union one of
the first acts performed by the new Southern government was to look for friends and allies. In doing this they immediately
looked to the Native American Nation's that have suffered the yoke of the federal government for even longer and under harsher
circumstances than the Southern people. The Southern Parties of the Southwest, the modern incarnation of the southern spirit
of freedom started in 1860, wants to issue a public note of thanks to all of the Native American Nations that supported the
Southern cause in words, thoughts, and deeds. Without your support the Southern Nation would not have lasted as long as it
did nor would the Southern cause likely live to this day.
The modern Southern movement in the Southwest, in the form
of the Southern Parties of the Southwest, is once again looking for allies. As before, we look towards those who will understand
our cause through intimate knowledge of the style the federal government uses to govern. We are putting out the call to all
the Nations to join together with us to become a political force that the government in Washington cannot ignore. We cannot
rely on elected officials who care more about their party affiliation than their constituents to protect us. We must elect
those who share our views to elected office in our areas. We welcome any Native American to join the Southern Parties of the
Southwest in either the state you live in or the state your national capital is located. We also want to encourage each
and every Nation to work with the Southern Parties of the Southwest to achieve our mutual goals.
